ABOUT US
MURAKAMI SEED began in 1953 - Konosuke Murakami, the founder, worked to develop the local production of gladiolus bulb in Ibaraki prefecture. By early 1970, the company grew up to the key wholesale base on business of several bulb crops for Dai-Ichi Seed Co., Ltd., while organizing the agricultural associations to upgrade local bulb volume and quality as a professional supplier.
By late 90s, with the development of bulb business, the company actively challenged to work on total agricultural service including seed, seedlings and many of related materials. The research station started in operation to conduct the breeding program in 1988. Then, the company has reviewed its business and potential time to time and, leveraging our competency, walked on under the policy of selection and concentration.
2002 was a landmark year for MURAKAMI SEED. The company acquired seed business division of Dai-ichi Seed and gained the seed products in broader range of cutflower, pot & bedding plant and miscellaneous ornamental stuffs, and then the position of a Japanese major wholesaler to work with the leading global breeders. Along with the acquisition, the company was reorganized and renovated.
Our active breeding programs; unique product lines like a seed-raised lilium formolongi or high-rating double matthiola, besides major crops such as delphinium chinensis, lisianthus, matthiola, snapdragon, viola…, are successfully going in current century. MURAKAMI SEED is proud that our products are delivered to customers’ working bench in worldwide and then keeps extra challenge to reach their satisfaction.
